Frequently Asked Questions — Ultreya

If you have questions that aren't answered here, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help you find the clarity and support you need.

Getting Started

The first step is to schedule a free consultation. This is a brief conversation—typically 15 to 20 minutes—where we can learn about what you're navigating, answer your questions, and determine whether we're a good fit for your needs.

You can schedule your consultation through our Get Started page or by contacting us directly.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to understand your story, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to work on. We'll also discuss how therapy works, answer any questions you have, and begin building the foundation of our work together.

There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. We move at your pace.

We support children (ages 5+), teens, adults, and families. We specialize in trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, spiritual trauma, cross-cultural identity shifts, family and relational health, and provide a dedicated space for therapists seeking their own personal therapy.

We offer both. You can meet with us via secure telehealth from the comfort of your home, or choose walk-and-talk therapy for outdoor sessions. We're flexible and will work with you to find the format that best supports your healing.

Cost & Insurance

Session Rate: $250 per 50-minute session

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and other electronic payment methods.

We are an out-of-network practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many of our clients are able to receive partial reimbursement from their insurance company for out-of-network mental health services.

Choosing to work outside of insurance networks allows us to focus entirely on your care without limitations on session frequency, treatment length, or diagnostic requirements imposed by insurance companies.

Yes, we provide superbills upon request.

A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process a claim for out-of-network reimbursement. This includes:

• Provider credentials and contact information
• Dates of service
• Session fees paid
• Diagnosis codes (if applicable)
• Procedure codes (CPT codes)

You can submit the superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. The amount you receive back depends on your specific plan's out-of-network benefits.

We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking the following questions:

Questions to ask your insurance company:

• Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
• What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?
• What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed after the deductible is met?
• Is there a limit to the number of therapy sessions covered per year?
• How do I submit a claim for reimbursement?

We're happy to help you understand your benefits during your consultation.

We have a limited number of reduced-rate slots available for clients experiencing financial hardship. Please reach out to discuss your situation—we'll work with you to find a solution whenever possible.

Sessions & Scheduling

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged if needed, particularly for family therapy or intensive work.

Most clients benefit from weekly sessions, especially in the beginning. As you progress, we may shift to every other week or adjust based on your needs. Frequency is collaborative—we'll decide together what serves your healing best.

We require at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments (no-shows) will be charged the full session fee.

We understand that emergencies happen—please reach out if you're in a difficult situation and we'll work with you.

We're here for you. While we can't provide crisis intervention via email or text, you're welcome to reach out with brief questions or concerns. If you're in crisis, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.

Telehealth & Walk-and-Talk

Telehealth sessions take place via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer).

You'll receive a link to join the session before your appointment—just click and we'll be there.

Walk-and-talk therapy is exactly what it sounds like—therapy that happens while walking outdoors. For some people, movement and nature create a sense of openness that makes it easier to process emotions and talk through difficult things.

Sessions typically take place in safe, quiet outdoor spaces. Weather permitting, this can be a grounding and healing way to do the work.

Walk-and-talk therapy works well for clients who feel more comfortable processing while moving, who benefit from being in nature, or who simply prefer a less traditional therapy setting. It may not be ideal for everyone, and that's okay—we'll help you decide what format feels right.

Confidentiality & Privacy

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law (HIPAA). We do not share information about you without your written consent.

There are a few legal exceptions:

• If there is a serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or others
• If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or dependent adult
• If required by a court order

We will always discuss these limits with you during your first session.

When working with minors, we balance the need for confidentiality with parents' right to be informed. We'll discuss this openly with both you and your child or teen at the start of therapy so everyone understands what will and won't be shared.

Our goal is to create a space where young people feel safe to talk honestly while keeping parents appropriately involved.

About Our Approach

We draw from evidence-based approaches including trauma-informed care, attachment theory, narrative therapy, and family systems work. But more than any single method, we believe in meeting you where you are and adapting our approach to what you need.

Healing isn't one-size-fits-all. Our work is collaborative, relational, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life.

Absolutely. We honor and respect all faith traditions, as well as those who are exploring, deconstructing, or stepping away from faith. If spirituality is important to your healing, we welcome it into the room. If it's not, that's equally respected.

We also specialize in spiritual trauma and religious hurt, offering a thoughtful and non-judgmental space to process those wounds.

There's no set timeline. Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific transition or challenge. Others stay longer to do deeper work on trauma, grief, or relational patterns.

Therapy is not about checking boxes or meeting a deadline. It's about moving at the pace that feels right for you. We'll check in regularly about your progress and adjust as needed.
